Elizabeth Wootton and Yiwang Xu join the lab this week to work with us over the summer. Liz has already worked in the lab for her 3rd year dissertation and is keen to take forward some parts of the project, aimed at study dyslexia-associated genes. Specifically, she will be involved in genetic association analysis using a children cohort collected by the Centre for Reading and Language (CRL) in York led by Prof Maggie Snowling, for which DNA has just become available. Yiwang will develop novel functional assays to understand the molecular mechanisms of the association between PCSK6 and human handedness. We are very grateful to IBANS far a vacation scholarship awarded to Yiwang.
