An exciting and unique PhD opportunity has become available in our lab! We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate willing to cross the boundaries between medicine, physics, neuroscience and cell biology.
The aim of this project is to develop novel approaches to study mental health conditions by merging several powerful tools: stem cells, laser-based technology and next-generation sequencing. Cutting-edge technology, developed at the University of St Andrews, will be used to differentiate stem cells in relevant neuronal types, which will be analysed using single-cell technologies and advanced bioinformatics tools. This project will be conducted in collaboration with Prof Kishan Dholakia, Prof Frank Gunn-Moore and Dr. Anne Smith.
